In 2019 and 2022, Danielle Wijenje, a 19-year-old medical student, and Wendy Moraa, a 20-year-old sociology student from Kenya, won the MASK Innovation Awards — three-month paid internships at Unilever's Heroes for Change in Nairobi. They are 'fit for any organisation seeking growth' commented Elsie Wandera, Heroes for Change CEO.
Danielle reflected, "MASK Awards helped boost my confidence in my ideas," adding, " I am grateful to MASK for giving me the opportunity as a creator, innovator, and entrepreneur. MASK Awards has changed how I think. I see myself now not only as an upcoming doctor, but as a medical entrepreneur that can potentially transform the medical sector in Kenya."
Wendy said, "Winning MASK Awards has been a highlight of my young life, which will benefit me for years to come. I worked with a brilliant team, grew as a thinker, and changed how I look at the world. It helped me mentally, socially and financially. I am excited and hopeful for the future. Carrying the lessons I have learned with me, I am eager to test them in a new environment."
