Atieno Sachy is a Kenyan sculptor, painter, graphic designer and glass artist. Her major area of specialisation is sculpture, where she primarily works using metal.
"Metal is one of the materials I chose to work using different joinery, polishing and alloys to create highlights, contrast and details that allow observation and character."
Her sculptures focus on insects, animals and human forms. "They are not only spectacular, but also have symbolic meaning representing growth, renewal and transformation. My ‘Samburu, Turkana Women’ series focuses on ornaments of Samburu and Turkana women that reveal a woman's status in the community."
"Being open to various art forms has given me a broad perspective on the arts and allowed me to blend them together to create new unique styles and works of art."
Education
She is currently studying for Master Degree in Fine Art (Sculpture) at Kenyatta University.
