At just 16 years old, San Jose-based artist Lydia Vaz is already gaining recognition in the art world. Specializing in realism, portraiture, and surreal imagery, Lydia’s preferred mediums—oil, acrylic, and gouache—enable her to explore complex themes of identity and personal growth. Each of her works offers a window into her unique perspective, inviting viewers to connect with her evolving artistic journey.
Lydia’s artistic achievements are notable. After earning her IGCSE in Fine Art in 2023, she received an Honorable Mention in the prestigious 2024 Congressional Art Competition, and her work has been featured in several publications. Though largely self-taught, Lydia has taken full advantage of art classes, workshops, and the support of her family to hone her craft.
Her journey began with childhood doodles and coloring pages, but over time, her work has developed into technically sophisticated pieces that demonstrate her growing mastery of traditional media.
