According to the African Development Bank, two-thirds of Africa’s young people aged between 15 and 35 are unemployed or vulnerably employed. While 10-12 million youths enter the workforce each year, only 3 million formal jobs are created annually. As a result of COVID-19, millions more jobs have been lost. Youth unemployment is a major global problem that exacerbates youth alienation, poverty and inequality, fuelling migration and conflicts, and threatening a peaceful and sustainable business climate.
One way to overcome this dire situation is to create your own opportunity. Have you considered entrepreneurship as a career option? Can you generate a job for yourself which you care passionately about? As famous Chinese entrepreneur Jack Ma once said: "No one has money – but that's an opportunity for entrepreneurs. Think creative. Every business starts from tiny business."
