Alla Tkachuk

Artist, educator and scientist Alla Tkachuk (BEng MSc FRSA) founded MASK in 2007. While painting in Kenya, Alla discovered that education that engenders creativity was virtually absent in schools, and founded MASK Create (formerly, Mobile Art School in Kenya (MASK)) that is dedicated to advancing creativity education, through art and other means.

Since then, MASK has reached beneficiaries in 13 countries in Africa, UK, USA, France and South Korea. Its work was presented at organisations such as UNESCO, Saatchi Gallery, Turner Contemporary, Nairobi National Museum, the US Library of Congress, the University of London, and the Woodrow Wilson Center, and recognised by Harvard’s School of Education, InSEA, HundrED, Barack and Michelle Obama, and the Kenyan government.

In 2020, MASK was named ‘Most Innovative Learning Organisation 2020’ by SME News (UK).
